Getting settled

It's been a very busy month since moving all the horses to our new barn- The Rocking J Ranch! We're still in Gilbert, so it's still close for everyone.

Things are getting done at a fast pace! What a nice place with a very positive vibe. Everyone seems to be very happy and the horses are loving the turnouts and big stalls. Thanks to Jayne and Scott for opening up this beautiful place to us!

Time to plan the Christmas trail ride and party now, just as soon as the Blue Ribbon Show at Westworld in Scottsdale, is over... Looks like we'll be taking 3 or 4 horses there. Should be fun!

I had been hoping to get pictures posted from our fun show in November at Roberts Ranch, haven't got all the pics in yet. Soon I hope.

Spent some time with Ket at the Goldmine Show at Horseshoe Park, in Queen Creek, during the big storm on Saturday. He did great in the crowded warm up ring in the covered arena, during the rain. He's such a good colt. I am looking forward to getting to show him.

We will post pictures of the new place soon and get our website updated, too.

Whew the holidays are coming fast!

A lot going on!

This week has been busy! Shuttling horses to the barn in Gilbert to ride and get cleaned up for this weekend...organizing a bunch of the Light Rein clients for Sunday. We're having a fun show! Thanks to Glenda for hosting our fun day on Sunday!

It's going to be great for everyone to get into their show clothes and do their best riding over at Robert's Ranch.

Hope to have some pictures and stories for all of you next week!

AQHA Announces Novice Championships

This is very exciting news! AQHA has announced that there will be two Novice Championship Shows in 2012.

"To qualify for the Novice championship shows, competitors will go through national or state qualifying. The AQHA Western Novice Championship Show will be held October 5-7, 2012, at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and the AQHA Eastern Novice Championship Show is October 5-7, 2012, at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Two national invitation opportunities exist for competitors. Those include a top-10 placing at anAQHA regional championship show in a Novice class or to show to 20 AQHA judges throughout the year. For this latter option, competitors may show to judges around the nation – there is no regional preference or requirement. The national qualifying period for the Novice championship shows is May 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012."

This is such a great thing for AQHA to offer for our Novice riders! Hopefully we will have several riding in Las Vegas!

All American Quarter Horse Congress

The All American Quarter Horse Congress is a huge show with some really fun classes.

You probably have seen the bridle-less reining run that Stacy Westfall did to "Titanic." There were others in that freestyle class:

This one is done with a Dressage theme (with a bridle):

This one is the Non-Pro Reining Champion (Bridle-less AND Bareback)

Here's one more you might enjoy:

This is VS Code Red- the Jr. Western Riding Champion, shown by Charlie Cole.

Have fun watching these videos and keep working on your skills!
